High-Quality Outdoor Environments for Colorado’s Children

One of the most fulfilling parts of my job is visiting the programs Qualistar supports with grant funding. I recently had the opportunity to visit two Healthy Beginnings, Active Futures grant recipients. The Healthy Beginnings, Active Futures grant is for Colorado-based nonprofit and for profit early childhood education programs, including family child care, that serve children younger than age five and need improvements to their outdoor facilities.

Quality in School Age Programs: What’s in it for Us?

We have spent the last two years refining our School Age Rating and assessments for out-of-school time programs. As an organization that supports quality in every facet of the early childhood education community, we believe all children’s programming should be high quality. Our obligation to offer quality programs for children does not end when they enter Kindergarten.

Family Child Care Providers are Taking Care of Business!

Providers are acclimating to Colorado Shines QRIS, the state’s new quality rating and improvement system, and the Professional Development Information System (PDIS), the state’s new professional registry. The Family Child Care Quality Certificate project is designed to prepare family providers to be successful as they participate in the state rating system and PDIS.

Leann Arnold: Director’s Certification

Leann Arnold, has earned her Director’s Certification. She previously earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and has over thirteen years of experience in the preschool classroom. “You are never too old to learn! I was feeling like I needed a new adventure in my life. Taking classes got me excited about teaching again. Children are our future and we need quality professionals to encourage and guide them.”
